Address

The Anne Frank House is located in the city centre of Amsterdam, at Prinsengracht 263-267. The entrance to the museum is around the corner, at Westermarkt 20. It is a 20-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Alternatively, take tram 13 or 17 and get off at the Westermarkt stop. It is a 10-minute walk from Dam Square. You can take all the time you need for your visit. On average, a visit takes an hour.

Accessibility

There are many stairs in the Anne Frank House. If you have difficulty walking, you may have trouble climbing the steep stairs.

Photography

In order to protect the original items in the museum and to avoid causing nuisance to other visitors, photography is not allowed in the museum.  

Visiting with Children

To visit the Anne Frank House, we maintain a minimum age of 10 years, the museum is not suitable for younger children. And how do you prepare children for a visit? We try to answer this question, and more, so that everyone has the best possible experience visiting our museum

Tips for visits with young children

Complementary audio tour

The audio tour is an important part of the museum visit. The audio tour tells the story of Anne Frank and the other people in hiding, their helpers and provides you with more information about the persecution of the Jews and the Second World War.

The audio tour Anne’s Story, has especially been created for young visitors, telling the story from Anne's perspective.

The audio tours are available in nine languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.

The museum cafe

After your visit, you can sit down and talk in the museum café, enjoying a beautiful view of the Prinsengracht. We offer a wide range of hot and cold drinks as well as various snacks and lunch dishes. The cafe can only be accessed through the museum. Payment is by bank or credit card only.

Museum shop

Here, you can buy The Diary of Anne Frank, the museum catalogue, postcards, or one of our many other publications. Your purchase helps the Anne Frank House conserve the museum and contributes to our (educational) activities.

The museum shop keeps the same opening hours as the museum and can only be accessed through the museum. Payment is by bank or credit card only. The range of items sold in our shop is also available online.

Cloakroom

The museum has a cloakroom where you can leave your coat, bag, or buggy. Only bags that are smaller than an A4 sheet of paper can be carried inside. We do not have room to store large bags and backpacks, suitcases, or other large items. Please leave your luggage at your hotel or deposit it at Amsterdam Central Station, otherwise, you may not be able to visit the museum.

Online Dispute Resolution

Our Terms and Conditions for Visiting and the agreement between the visitor and the Anne Frank House are subject to Dutch law. Any disputes arising between the visitor and the Anne Frank House as a result of this agreement shall be decided upon only by a judge having jurisdiction in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

If you have a problem with an online purchase and cannot resolve it with the Anne Frank House, you can use the Online Dispute Resolution-platform to send your complaint to an approved dispute resolution body. To submit a complaint on this site, you must be a resident of a country that's part of the EU.
