1944 Discovered and arrested

Peter was learning English with Otto Frank when Dutch police officers, headed by SS-Hauptscharführer Karl Josef Silberbauer, raided the hiding place on 4 August 1944. The eight people in hiding were arrested together with Victor Kugler and Jo Kleiman, two of the helpers. They were locked up in House of Detention I in Amsterdam.
