The young people, aged 10-12 and 14-15, are currently living in the Netherlands because of the war in their country. The workshop Drawing a Path from the Past to the Future consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the life story of Anne Frank, with the participants visiting the hiding place where Anne Frank wrote her diary. The second part includes an interactive creative workshop led by Alevtina Kakhidze. Through a colouring book that she has made especially for this workshop, the young people will make a bridge between their own war experiences and the war experiences of Anne Frank.
War diaries
The workshop is part of the exhibition War Diaries: Unheard Voices of Ukrainian Children, which is being held from August 17th to September 24th at Amsterdam City Hall. The project, initiated by Khrystyna Khranovska and organised by NGO Port of Culture, showcases the personal stories of young people who witnessed and documented the war in Ukraine.
