Professor Bauer was a pioneering scholar and a leading historian of the Holocaust, who helped the world to learn lessons from this unprecedented, man-made crime in human history . Many of our colleagues at the Anne Frank House have known him personally and will keep remembering not just his profound knowledge, deep insights and moral guidance, but also his warmth and kindness. He will be dearly missed.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, loved ones and friends.
May his memory be a blessing.
