Search and find
- Search freely for one or more words via the search bar.
- Start a new search with the button "Collection" at the top right or with an empty search bar.
Filter
- The results in the overview can be filtered by specific fields using the drop-down menus below the search bar. Which fields you can choose depends on a previous search.
- When you don't know a keyword, you can use any filters to explore the collection, but if you've already done a search, your selection will already be smaller and sometimes there will be fewer fields available in the filter.
More search tipa
- Use AND between the keywords: when all specified keywords must appear.
- Use OR between the keywords: when at least one of the specified keywords must appear.
- With an asterisk (*) before, after or between the keyword, you can search with a part of the word. The asterisk replaces all missing letters. The result shows all spellings and forms of the keyword.
- By using double quotes (“ ”) around a number of words, you can search for these words in a specific order.
Search results
- By hovering your mouse over the search results, you will see information about the images.
- Search results with arrows (< >) have more than one images to browse through.
- If you click on a search result, you will go to the detailed view: an image and all descriptive fields. Use the arrows at the top right to go to the next/previous search result. If you move the cursor over the file, you will see a menu at the top right that allows you to zoom in or browse to the next image of this object.
- To the left of the description you will see a vertical menu bar with buttons for an overview of all files (assets) of the object, the permalink (the address with which this object can be retrieved online forever) and a button for downloading the image.
- The "Overview" button at the top left takes you back to the overview of the search results.
Page language version
All collection items are described in Dutch. The page interface is available in Dutch and English, which you can choose via the language button in the upper right corner. However, a search result is not saved when you change the page language; after changing the language, the search result of the former language is lost.
Usage rights
When not using the image for home use, you must comply with the usage rights applicable to this image. The current presentation mainly shows material that we believe is free of copyright or for which we have not found the copyright holder(s). We have done this carefully. If you nevertheless believe that a digital file is subject to copyright, please contact us via email and mention the "Identification" of the file.
