Battle of El Alamein
Germany and Italy push the Allies back from Libya to Egypt in 1942. During the Battle of El Alamein, the Allies win and push the Italian and German forces back to the west.

Between 8 and 16 November 1942, American and British troops land in Morocco and Algeria. They attack Germany and Italy from the rear in the west.
Morocco and Algeria belong to Vichy France, but the French troops decide not to join the fight.
The German and Italian troops withdraw into Tunisia.

During the Battle of the Kasserine Pass, from 19 to 24 February 1943, the German army achieves its last victory in Africa.
From then on, the Axis powers withdraw further and further into Tunisia.
On May 13, 1943, the German-Italian army in North Africa surrenders.
